enviromental footprint from burning wood

Environmental Considerations

Only use smokeless coal or dry wood as fuel, no MDF or plywood as these release poisonous gasses into the environment.

The majority of towns in the UK now have smokeless zones,  You can easily find out more about exactly what that means here, or check if you’re in one of those areas by visiting the map on the DEFRA website.

the wood burning carbon cycle

If you have no restrictions on the fuel you can burn, you may wish to consider using seasoned wood.  This is classed as a carbon neutral fuel, because it absorbs as much carbon during the trees grows as it emits when the seasoned wood is burned.  If you collect wood locally it reduces your carbon footprint even further as no fuel is used for transportation.
